This week we made limericks in English. A limerick has a rhyming pattern of aabba, and it is sometimes funny. This is a example '' There was a young girl named Kate; She was going on her very first date; He was the guy; They shared a pie; Then he was her soul mate."

We also made Christmas gifts for our parents, and it was really fun. In science we first tried to make a bouncy ball, but for most people it did not work. The next day we made slime because the bouncy ball did not work. This helped us to learn about chemical reactions when the borax and glue were mixed together, it changed to a new substance.

During math class we are doing a graph to see what is your favorite soda and what candy bar is your favorite. We had a fun week!

On November 17th, we finished reading Wonder, our first trimester read-aloud.  This was also the day of the movie's release in the theaters.  I hope throughout the trimester, your 5th grader has told you a bit about the book and about its main character August Pullman.  It is truly an inspiring story of acceptance of those who are different, developing character, and standing up for others.  I hope that our students can take to heart the true message of the story, "Always be kinder than is necessary," and "When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind."  ðŸ˜„
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

This week in church we learned about different types of love. We also put up our wonderful Halloween decorations! This week we got very far in the book we have been reading for the past couple weeks called Wonderstruck.  We think it is very cool that it goes from a story of text and then we have to try to figure out what the story of pictures is trying to say. We took our spelling tests today. When Mr. Heinzen went to Camp Vista we were able to have our own gym class hosted by Mrs. Caporale!
